Hello everyone I thought I’d just let you all know about this wonderful ravelry group. Working together all members use crochet energy and skills to produce gorgeous healing comforting blankets for people in times of need. The group is moderated by a lovely lady named Channelle and her ravelry username is goodbody.
Members will be required to send in at least one 5” x 5” Granny or knitted square a month. You can send in more if you like. A healing blanket will be made from all of the squares that members send in and made with love. At least one blanket a month will be made and sent to a person who our group members feel needs it the most. Group members can nominate family members or friends who are ill or in need of healing. How special would it be to have a blanket made from all over the world…

I’ve had so many requests to write up a pattern for a heart rag rug I’ve finally got around to doing it. This is just one pattern and quite often I just make heart rugs in a freeform style.
You can get the pattern by clicking here or over on Etsy click here.
This shawl is worked in a basic trellis pattern. Shaping is created through beginning each row with 7ch and then 1 dc into 4th ch.
Materials:
50g pumpkin DK yarn, 6.5mm hook
Pattern:
Ch 100 + 7 (counts as first trellis)
Row 1: dc into 8th chain from hook, *ch 7, sk 4 ch, dc into next ch*, ** rep to end.
Rows 2 - 13: *ch 7, dc into 4th ch from previous row*, **rep to end.
Note: Rows 2-13 are worked identically.
To Finish: darn all ends in.
Edging: this wrap doesn’t require an edging and you could apply any that you wish but here I worked as follows.
Row 1: *work 1 dc into 1st ch, sl st next ch*, ** rep to end.
This pattern is offered and made available for personal use only. I recently came up with the idea or notion of producing a granny square rag rug it’s something I haven’t seen anywhere else and naturally wondered why. I wasn’t sure it would work due to the nature of rag rugs but I’ve done it and I love it.
It’s shabby, it’s chic, it’s vintage, it’s retro, it’s folksy, it’s granny and it’s crochet. What more could we want?
So if you fancy having a go at making one you can get the pattern on Etsy or Ravelry.
As many of you will be aware it’s International Crochet Day on Sunday, so I was wondering what everyone was doing to celebrate or promote crochet.
I will no doubt be eating, sleeping and breathing crochet. I will be blogging, pattern writing, and even crocheting. Why not pop along to the International Freeform Crochet group and have a look at this years exhibition.
Click here to view the online exhibition.
I will probably be making and hanging more ribbons on The Crochet Clootie Tree.

Thank you Donna for taking the time and effort to send your lovely ribbons for the clootie tree. It’s looking finer for the addition.
They say a picture paints a 1000 words and so there are a few words here. On Saturday night just before midnight we had strangers banging on our door to let us know that some passing pyromaniac had decided to set one of our hedges on fire. As you can see the fire took over very quickly and the fire brigade took a while to arrive. Needless to say the hedge has been totally devastated.
What concerns me is that someone in there right mind could do something so mindless and destructive. It also concerns me that all the bats that lived in the hedge no longer have a home in my garden. A truly horrible weekend :-(
Fire photo’s courtesy of Sam-E who actually had the foresight to capture the photos as we all ran around trying to put the fire out.

Inspired by all things tartan and especially the Edinburgh Festival and Tattoo. I’m delighted with how it resembles woven tartan fabric.
