I recently received some gorgeous crocheted ribbons for my Clootie tree fro Pauline, Thank You so much Pauline. I will get more photos of the tree once the sun decides to come out again. Yes it’s nearly April but we are again covered in snow.

The Tide Pool Project – Call For Entries.

CALL FOR ENTRIES: We are seeking submissions from textile and mixed-media artists from around the world to create a collaborative tide pool made up of textile stones, kelp, anemone, barnacles, octopi, crabs, shells and other related flora and fauna. Thing-a-day Day 26 – Clootie Tree Ribbons

 
As some of you may remember I recently posted on thing-a-day crochet clootie tree. As a result of my endeavours I have inspired a fellow crocheter in the USA to create their own Clootie tree. We have agreed to a mutual exchange of crocheted ribbons for our respective clootie trees. Today I spent time making ribbons to send to MA USA and sent them.

Thing-a-day Day 17 – Playing with Trellis Pattern

Today I just wanted to have a play about with multiple layers of trellis. I came up with this scarf and I do like the movement of it.
Although, as is often the case with me, I prefer the reverse of the made up pattern.

Thing-a-day Day 5 – Freeform Crochet

This is part of Thing-a-day 2010 project but will obviously take more than 30 mins to complete and so it remains a work in progress. It is my intention to work on it and complete it before the end of February, 2010 and I hope to produce a functional item.

In this episode of the 'how to' series, Jan Leeming and Pam Dawson, both wearing vivid examples of knitwear fashion, discuss adapting basic patterns to one's own designs. James Walters, wearing a crochet suit, encourages free thinking for knitters with his call for designer obsolescence, Pam gets upset by bad combinations of stitches and wool, and there is a nice demonstration of a dolly bobbin for French knitting.
Jan Leeming went on to become a BBC newsreader until 1987 and in 2006 took part in Channel 4's 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here'. James Walters is an exponent of scrumbling, which is a kind of 'freeform crochet'.
